Stanley W. Blanchard Jr.

Stanley W. Blanchard, Jr passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at Presbyterian Hospital on January 1st, 2015. Stanley was born on March 4th, 1934 in Purcell, Oklahoma, the first child of Stanley W. Blanchard, Sr. and Dorothy Ford Blanchard. Stanley grew up in San Antonio, TX with his brother Ford and attended Alamo Heights High School. There he developed a keen interest in aviation, with his skills developing to such an extent that he was featured in the San Antonio Light for his success in competition flying the model airplanes he built. After graduation from Alamo Heights High School, Stanley attended The University of Texas, earning a degree in Business Administration in 1954. Stanley then served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in London, England where he attained the rank of Captain. While serving overseas, he met Netta Gleeson, and the two were married in Dublin, Ireland. Upon the completion of his commitment to the USAF, Stanley and Netta moved to San Antonio where their first son was born. The couple settled in Dallas in 1964, where they raised and educated three sons. Stanley was successful in his career, holding managerial positions with large organizations including Chilton Credit Corporation, The Samuel Clinic and Southern Methodist University. While at SMU, Stanley became interested in PCs and the internet – becoming an early adopter of the new emerging technologies. He was also very active in the Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder and with Rotary Club throughout his entire adult life. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Dorothy, and his brother Ford. Stanley is survived by his wife of 54 years, Netta, his sons Martin, Neil and Patrick, daughters in law Masa and Ursula, and his grandchildren Patrick Thomas, Michael, Lana, Claire, and Ashton. All will remember him for being a loving and gentle husband, parent and mentor. The family would like to recognize the years of loving care provided by Maria Gauna.
