Janice Gallagher Orr

Janice Gallagher Orr went home to be with her Lord, Monday, November 30th surrounded by the family she so cherished. Born Jessie Janice Gallagher in 1935 to Jess Gallagher and Selma Chowning Gallagher in DeSoto,Texas, Janice grew up in DeSoto, and then married, Roy Lee Orr in 1952. They celebrated 63 years as husband and wife. He is the love of her life. Janice is his dear and beloved wife. Janice, who saw no higher calling or greater joy, than being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was active in her church and the city she dearly loved, DeSoto. Janice was president of the PTA, the Future Farmers of America Parent Organization, and organized the first booster club for the DeSoto High School cheerleaders and Drill team. Janice Orr found time to aid the DeSoto High School Band Boosters Club. If there was a task to be completed, Janice was the person whom one called. In the 1950s and 1960s Janice readily shared her gift of hospitality at baby showers and wedding showers in DeSoto. There were no wedding showers or baby showers that Janice didn’t organize or host in her home. She was a life long Christian and member of the Church Of Christ, whose love of the Lord began in her youth. She taught classes at her church, sharing her walk with Christ and helping many come to a saving knowledge of the Lord. Janice Orr was a remarkable person loved by many and respected by all. Janice was a fount of sage advice and common sense. She left a positive and indelible mark on all who knew her; she was a blessing to all. Her large family whom she loved with all her heart and loved her in equal measure includes: Husband: Roy Lee Orr Children: Valorie Barrett and Husband Steve, Roxie Yeldell and Husband Brent, Lei Ann Reeves and Husband Ronnie, Tim Orr and Wife Ginger. Grandchildren: Bryan Barrett, Zach Barrett, Brannon Yeldell, Dustin Yeldell, Jeff Reeves, Brady Reeves, Matthieu Reeves, Peyton Orr, Brayden Orr, Mason Orr Great Grandchildren: Jackson Barrett, Olivia Barrett, Parker Barrett, Cade Yeldell, Brody Yeldell, Holden Yeldell, Hayes Yeldell, Abigail Reeves, Chloe Reeves Other survivors are one sister Sue England and her husband Doug, one brother Jerry Gallagher and his wife Judy, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
