Charles Edward Poteet

Charles Edward Poteet, 53, of Red Oak, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 7, 2016. He was born October 7, 1962 to Gwen Yvonne and Kenneth Dean Poteet in Dallas, TX. He lived most of his life in Red Oak, TX. Charles is cherished for being a big hearted guy, who loved his family, friends, and his dogs. He was the dedicated caregiver for our mother. He was always there to lend a helping hand when friends and family needed it. He was a faithful Christian and worshiped at Red Oak, Northside, and Brown Street Church of Christ. He graduated from Red Oak High, then attended college to become certified as an automotive technician, later attended Cedar Valley College and earned a degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. He worked in maintenance at various companies over the years, most recently at DeSoto and Lancaster ISD. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was very competitive in archery competitions locally and out of state. He also loved his nieces and nephews very much. They would put a big smile on his face whenever they called him Uncle BooBoo. His smile and chuckle will be missed by all who knew him. Charles is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Poteet and nephew Joseph Warner; and Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles. Charles is survived by his mother Gwen Poteet of Red Oak,TX, sister Debi Warner & her husband Ray of Post Falls, ID; sister Karen McMillan & her husband William of Bristol, TX; and sister Rhonda Morton, of Red Oak; nieces and nephews: Bethany, Sarah, Jeremiah, Rebekah, Mark, Jacob Warner all of Post Falls, ID, Elizabeth & her husband Brian, and Matthew Morton of Red Oak, TX; Melissa, Courtney, Tristan, and Kaelin McMillan all of Bristol, TX. Great nieces and nephews: Jayden, Payton, and Nash Buchert of Red Oak, TX; his dog Caesar, many cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. Pall bearers are nephews, cousins, and friends. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Red Oak first responders, family and friends for their act of kindness during this difficult time in our lives.
