Carol Mae Coterill

Carol Mae Adrian Coterill, daughter of Ilo Russell and Virgil Adrian Born August 24, 1931. Passed May 11, 2011 Preceded in death by her husband Thomas Richard Coterill and one son Ronald Earnest Coterill. Survived by her children - Loretta Cheek, Patti Brehm, Glenn and Kelli Coterill, Michael and Barbara Coterill, Craig Coterill, Tammy Coterill, her grandchildren – Julie and Brett Pope, Roger and Jillian Adams, Jacque Wiley, Brandon Cheek, Andy Brehm, Cory Brehm, Rachel Hefner, April Coterill, Ethan Coterill, Ciara Coterill, James Smith, Christene Wall, Karen Palmer, Angela Coterill, Alan and Jamie Martin, Amanda Coterill, LaKota Whitebird Coterill, Serenity Cheyenne Coterill, Josh Hartnett and her great-grandchildren – Hunter Wiley, Alexander Wiley, Tyler Pope, Zachary Pope, Kai Adams, Sophia Wiley, Matthew Travis Coterill, Elora Palmer, Layla Palmer, Stephanie McGuire, Stevie McGuire, Steven McGuire, Samuel McGuire, Andre Wall, Hanna Holly and Sara Holly. Born in Danville, Ohio she joined the Women’s Army Corps in 1949 where she met and married Thomas Coterill in 1952. She traveled the world and lived in Europe from 1956 to 1959, San Antonio from 1959 to 1962, Virginia from 1962 to 1966, Ft. Hood from 1966 to 1967 and finally settled in Lancaster in 1967 when Thomas retired from the Army. She worked as a supervisor for Statistical Tabulating Corporation in the 60’s and 70’s and was selected as the Professional Business Women’s “Boss of the Year” in 1971. She started her own company, Odesco Temporaries which she later sold and went to work for Freddie Mac. She rose to the position of National Accounts Manager and her job required her to leave her family and friends and move to McLean, VA. This was a difficult period for her, so in 1995 she retired and moved back to the historic family home in Lancaster and became a member of the Hampton Road Baptist Church Family. Her loves were her family, her church family, gardening – people were always stopping by her house to admire her yard and gardens. She also enjoyed playing pinochle, reading, crocheting – she taught others how to crochet and they made helmet warmers for the military. She loved travelling, teaching, singing, spelling - she represented North Texas at the National Spelling Bee in Wyoming, and she loved doing for others. She also loved her little dog – Sami. She so very much loved her family and her Lord – she is with him now. .
